Client Care Specialist:

Responsible for performing a variety of administrative tasks including but not limited to: greeting clients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, entering client and patient data into the system, generating invoices, distributing medications, etc. Ensures the Reception area is cleaned and positively reflects on the entire hospital staff and doctors. Serves as the primary communications channel between clients and other hospital staff. Responds to questions and/or provides information upon request from clients (internal and external). Assist clients and potential clients in understanding and utilizing the hospital’s products and services.

Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. 12 months or more in a veterinary hospital and/or a fast paced customer service/ call center environment preferred. Previous experience in a call center or busy multi-line telephone system is required. Knowledge of basic medical terminology and laboratory tests preferred. Ability to work in a highly emotional and stressful environment. Must be able to comply with all OSHA standards and have no allergies to drugs or supplies used in a veterinary hospital. Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills desired. The candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Must possess a strong customer service orientation, love of animals and be able to provide compassionate care. They must possess exceptional problem-solving, organizational and time management skills. Must be able to read, write and understand English for the purpose of doctor’s note transcription. Ability to lift a minimum 50 lbs. without assistance i.e. a bag of dog food and/or an animal. Ability to function in a veterinary hospital environment and use standard office equipment including but not limited to PC, fax, copier, telephone, etc.

Veterinary Assistant:

Responsible for providing a variety of client, nursing, technical and administrative tasks on an on-going basis related to a veterinary hospital. Responsible for greeting clients, handling pets, administering medications, preparing shots, x-rays, clean-up of facilities and cages, complete clinical laboratory tests, etc. Respond to questions and/or provide information upon request from clients (internal and external). Assist clients and potential clients in understanding and utilizing the hospital’s products and services.

Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Some (6 months or more) previous experience in a veterinary hospital, healthcare environment, laboratory and/or customer service environment is highly desirable. Knowledge of basic medical terminology and laboratory tests preferred. Ability to work in a highly emotional and stressful environment. Must be able to comply with all OSHA standards and have no allergies to drugs or supplies used in a veterinary hospital. Candidate should have excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills. They must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Must possess a strong customer service orientation, love of animals and be able to provide compassionate care. They must possess exceptional problem-solving, organizational and time management skills. Must be able to read, write and understand English for the purpose of doctor’s note transcription. Ability to exercise animals, clean cages, lift, hold and/or restrain animals. Ability to function in a veterinary hospital environment and use the standard hospital and office equipment including but not limited to standard office, surgical, and radiographic equipment, copier, PC etc. Ability to lift a minimum 50 lbs. without assistance i.e. a bag of dog food and/or an animal.

Licensed Veterinary Technician:

Responsible for providing a variety of client, nursing, technical and administrative tasks on an on-going basis related to a veterinary hospital. Responsible for greeting clients, handling pets, administering medications, shots, x-rays, preparing surgical suites, supporting surgery, clean-up of facilitates and cages, complete clinical laboratory tests, etc. Respond to questions and/or provide information upon request from clients (internal and external). Assist clients and potential clients in understanding and utilizing the hospital’s products and services.

Requirements: Minimum degree from an AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) accredited community college plus a minimum 2 years previous clinical experience. BS highly desirable must pass the Virginia State Board and possess a current state license. The LVT must possess a broad knowledge of animal science, medicine, and husbandry, including a basic knowledge of pharmacology and sufficient mathematical skills to ensure the administration of the accurate drug and fluid doses. Must be able to successfully restrain animals, complete clinical laboratory tests (urinalysis, venipuncture, dental prophylaxis, take blood sample), use multiple radiology techniques, administer anesthesia and monitor animals while under anesthesia, assist in surgery and perform dental cleanings.
